Grade 2024 Cold Finished (CF) / T-4 Temper Aluminum is solution heat treated and naturally aged to a substantially stable condition. Temper T-4 is not cold worked or stress relieved after the solution heat treatment, making it a better product for some fatigue applications. Aluminum alloy 2024 provides an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, high fatigue resistance, and average machinability. The addition of copper to this alloy makes 2024 one of the strongest aluminum alloys, but it also is more susceptible to corrosion than most other aluminum alloys. This product is ductile in the annealed temper and can be heat-treated to high strength levels after forming. Due to its high strength to weight ratio, this material is widely used in aerospace applications to produce fittings, gears, shafts, bolts, nuts, pistons and other fastening devices. (UNS A92024)
