At Fry Steel, many factors have helped us earn recognition as a top metal supplier in the United States. We’ve stayed true to William Allen and John Fry’s vision to provide customers with superior service, high-quality products, and innovative solutions.
One key to our success is our focus on our inventory. People come to us because they know we’ll have what they need in stock, and our team works hard to customize each order to provide a quick turnaround.
Here’s a bit more about our story.
Fry Steel opened its doors in 1948 as the Allen Fry company, headquartered in Los Angeles, CA. In 1971, John Fry bought out William Allen and became the sole owner, switching the name to Fry Steel.
Fry Steel made necessary changes to scale, to give the best support to its customers. In 1979, the steel business relocated from Los Angeles to Santa Fe Springs, the same location we use now. The company was acquired and now operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance, Inc. But the mission remains: to be the source of service and care for the needs of our clients.
One of the biggest obstacles metal suppliers face is shipment delays. Sometimes project managers don’t have the luxury of waiting weeks for metal. Fry Steel understands that which is why we built an additional warehouse facility in 2002 in Santa Fe Springs to hold a vast, varied inventory in stock.
Built next to the main building we moved into in 1979, the second warehouse allowed us an additional 31,400 square feet of storage space.
In 2023, we’re expanding again to Ohio! We can’t wait to serve our great customers in the Midwest, Northeast & Southeast much more efficiently and faster than we have historically.
Every project needs specific materials to ensure the integrity of the finished product. Whether you’re sending astronauts into space, or manufacturing kitchen appliances, you need the exact metal for the job, and a consistent supplier to deliver on time.
That’s why Fry Steel offers eight different types of metal for long bars, including:
Of all these different types, we also make four different types of cross-sections, including flat, hex, round, and square.
Fry Steel focuses on fast delivery, making us one of the quickest steel suppliers. We can deliver across the entire mainland United States. While many other metal suppliers struggle with supply chain issues, we offer long-term agreements with our customers to ensure they can always get the materials they need.
Fry Steel also understands that you’ll need specific cuts for each of your products. Our warehouses have over 50 saws to cut metals to the exact specifications. And it doesn’t matter how many cuts a customer needs: we can do one cut on a single metal, or a large production quantity.
If you’re tired of waiting weeks for your metal to arrive, it’s time to make a change. Order from Fry Steel for next-day shipment and fantastic customer service. Contact one of our helpful sales reps today.
