Aircraft Alloys / HY-TUF VAC MELT N&T

HyTuf Vac Melt Normalized & Tempered is a high strength alloy with the addition of Molybdenum to further improve the steels toughness properties. This material is Vacuum Arc Remelted offering a much cleaner steel that meets the magnetic particle test requirements of AMS-2300. This alloy provides good ductility, fracture toughness, and impact strength. The Normalized & Tempered condition offers optimal machinability before heat treat. HyTuf is typically used in products that require a 220 to 240 ksi tensile strength range. This alloy is often used for aircraft landing gears, flap tracks and other structural applications within the aerospace industry. (UNS K32550)
