9310 Vac Melt Normalized & Tempered is the premium aircraft quality carburized grade steel alloy containing nickel, chromium and molybdenum. This material is usually melted in an Electric Furnace, and then remelted via Consumable Electrode Vacuum Arc Remelting. This produces a much cleaner steel meeting the magnetic particle test requirements of AMS-2300. This alloy provides a high core hardness and high fatigue strength. The normalized and tempered condition offers the best machinability. This material is produced for the purpose of case hardening. It is used for applications where strength, toughness, and high wear resistance are required, making it an excellent choice for aircraft parts. Alloy 9310 is used for the production of aircraft engine gears & pinions, shafts, clutches, and piston pins. (UNS G93106)
