6150 Vac Melt is an aircraft quality fine grain chromium vanadium alloy that provides good ductility and high abrasion resistance. This material is usually melted in an Electric Furnace, and then remelted via Consumable Electrode Vacuum Arc Remelting. This produces a much cleaner steel meeting the magnetic particle test requirements of AMS-2300. In the heat treated condition this alloy provides great shock resistance and toughness. 6150 is often used to produce heavily stressed parts such as shafts, gears, pinions, hand tool components, automotive leaf springs, piston rods, pump parts and aircraft parts.
